About the artist
Painting, every day.

I'm Trevor Chatfield, a painter based in Altrincham, South Manchester. Painting has been part of my life for a long time — but it became something much more important after I had a stroke.
Recovery is slow, and art gave it a shape. Picking up a brush again was part of getting my steadiness and confidence back, a little at a time. The first portrait I painted after my stroke, Stroke — Life Changes, meant a great deal to me, and it set me off painting again properly.
I don't stick to one style. Some paintings are detailed and realistic, others are loose and atmospheric — the subject decides. I paint the sea and the boats I've sailed on, the streets of Manchester in the rain, people, and whatever else catches my eye. When someone asks for something particular, I'll paint in the style they're after.
The paintings on this site are available as fine art prints, printed here in the UK. If you'd like one — or want to ask about anything else — I'd love to hear from you.
